To God be the glory, we had a wonderful time at our Premier Designer Women workshop. There were rave reviews but more importantly  we believe that we were implementing God’s design.  Our foundation scripture was Psalm 139:14; “I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and that my souls knows very well”. The entire Psalm in itself is not basically about self awareness, body image, self esteem and so on but is  an ode to  the great Designer God who knows us so intimately and fashioned us so intricately. In context, the verse  is actually celebrating the awesome wonder and magnificence of our God and we felt this was an excellent starting point for our workshop.

Coincidentally, while I was preparing the content of the workshop, I read the following excerpt from a post by Jen Wilkin, titled, “Women, trade Self -worth for Awe and Wonder,  13th July , 2016,

You can assure me that I am God’s poem or His masterpiece. You can tell me that I stir the heart of God, that I am sung over and delighted in, that I am beautiful in His eyes and that I am set apart for a sacred purpose. You can tell me these things and you should. But I beg you: Don’t tell me who I am until you have caused me to gaze in awe at “I Am”

Jen Wilken wrote this after having attended so many Psalm 139: 14 seminars, workshops and what not’s. She wrote that they were  pink ribbon events and that the attendees should be made to first look away from their body image  and into the eyes of their  awesome Designer. He knows our sitting down and our rising up, our thoughts from afar off, even our every conversations. Even while knitting us together in our mothers’ wombs His eyes saw our substance yet unformed.

Need I say more?  We started by celebrating our awesome Designer, Maker of the heavens and the earth. What a mighty God we serve. 7.4 billion of us on planet earth, and each of us distinct and unique. No two DNA’s are the same and we all have a separate cocktail of personality traits, gifts, talents, strengths and weaknesses. If this is not creativity, what else is?

We briefly looked at Psalm 8: 1-3 & 3-4 another celebration of the glory of God in creation.

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens!..When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him…

Like the Psalmist we discussed the fact that our whole lives had to resonate in praise of God. This praise is to transcend mere singing, clapping and dancing. It should be worked out by living a full and fulfilled existence  maximizing potential and glorifying God. We owe that much to Him. He designed us for nothing less than this. So what’s your design? What’s your purpose? Homemaker? CEO? Missionary? Artist? All to the praise of God.
