At the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul, Turkey, a shop owner gave me a short lesson on different grades of items. With tongue in cheek, he explained that there are original – originals, fakes and original fakes. Original-originals are the authentic items, fakes are cheap imitations and original fakes are expensive fakes.

We are original originals, fearfully and wonderfully made. There are billions of us and not one of us has the same DNA as the other person. As a Career Direct® Consultant  in all the assessments I have carried out no two women have been the same or will ever be.

God is the Master Designer creating unique women. We are authentic Designer women, created to show forth the glory of Him who made us in His image and after His likeness.(Genesis1:26-28).  He deliberately designed us not just to while away the time, or simply adorn the hands of a man, like a designer handbag or be a show piece but for a unique purpose. He had specifics in mind before placing us in our family and nation. He already filled in our appointment books even before time began and placed us where we would best show forth His glory.

Usually, a designer has a plan, a drawing or a template in their mind which they may sketch before they fashion the masterpiece. In our case the template for creating us was the Trinity.

A designer item is a masterpiece, beautiful, well –crafted and durable and in order to protect it , the designer places a mark or logo on it.  We have the seal of the Holy Spirit upon us that sets us apart as Christian women.

Design in itself means to plan artistically or skillfully, to intend or fashion for a purpose, to form or conceive in the mind, to plan and fashion the form and structure of an object, work of art or decorative scheme. Both my on -line dictionaries state that design and create are synonymous. Create means to cause to come into being, as something unique that would not ordinarily evolve or that  is not made by ordinary process, to evolve from one’s own thought or imagination as a work of art or an invention.

We are designed/created to look like Him, to carry His beauty, his excellence and creativity. Psalm 139:13-16 captures this very beautifully.

God  re-created us in Jesus Christ because He has plans for us. The mandate for good works in Ephesians 2:10 is a progression from the first mandate God gave us in Genesis1:28 to be fruitful, to multiply, to subdue the earth and have dominion over all living things. In the New Testament Jesus Christ delegates to His new creation ( 2 Cor 5:17) all His authority over demons, sickness and all the power of the enemy. (Mark 16:15). We are now expected to exercise this authority and bear spiritual fruit worthy of repentance.

He has wired into us everything we need to fulfill that purpose, from rocking a cradle or sitting on a board. Global turmoil is reaching a crescendo and we need to realize our purpose no matter the scale. It may be intercession like Anna in Luke 2:37 or developing mentoring relationships like Mary and Elizabeth. Let God show you His purpose for your life and begin to walk it out. The journey of discovery and living on purpose is a wonderful one.
